Welcome to Cameroon Epilepsy Foundation-CEF
The colloquial terms for epilepsy in North West Cameroon is “fainting sick” “fainting fit” and “falling down sick”.

It is thought to be contagious, that you can catch epilepsy by touching someone during a seizure. Because of this, many people with epilepsy are not taken to places of safety during seizures. They  suffer fatal or debilitating injuries from falling into open fires and bodies of water, and being abandoned in these dangerous environments during their seizure.
They live a life of isolation. They have no voice in their communities.

Listen to their stories, walk in their shoes, see what it feels like to be one with “Fainting FIT”.
